Surface Applications

QFS is currently investigating sensing technologies for a wide variety of applications. We are
investigating magnetotellurics for geophysical resource exploration, are working with a commercial
partner to develop a remote electrostatic charge monitoring system for delicate electronics
manufacturing, have built an advanced lightning detection system that can identify events with
continuing current, and are developing instrumentation for military usages such as UXO detection and
identification. In addition, QFS has just begun a project funded by the NSF to develop instrumentation
to acquire low frequency signals that are suspected to be earthquake precursors and may eventually
function as an earthquake prediction mechanism.
